Fine looking animals with a good temperament from a breed that originated in North East England in the late 18th Century. Initially a dual purpose breed (for beef and milk production), two strains developed early on giving rise to Beef Shorthorn and Dairy Shorthorn.

The Beef side of the family have full flavoured meat with a good open texture. Great for steaks.
