New Lunch Menu
As you know, we like our steaks big (we think they cook and taste better that way), but we’re aware that at lunchtime even we sometimes fancy something a little bit smaller. So, we’ve introduced a couple of new lunch options.
Hawksmoor Hamburger & Triple Cooked Chips (or Little Gem Salad) £15
250g Rump Steak & Triple Cooked Chips (or Little Gem Salad) £15
The Hawksmoor Hamburger [include picture]
After a very long research period trying to create the perfect hamburger, we’re confident we’ve struck gold – come and see if you agree any weekday lunchtime. We can’t reveal the full recipe of course, save to say that it all comes from well-loved Longhorns and includes some long neglected old fashioned cuts like clod and sticking and small nuggets of bone marrow for bursts of juicy flavour.
Even the hand made demi-brioche bun (soft, but not too soft) took 6 months to perfect. And we tried every cheese in the world (or at least it felt like that) before landing on Jamie Montgomery’s Somerset Oggleshield.
The Hawksmoor Monday Club
Many of us have got some fantastic wine at home – it might be part of a great cellar, or a bottle we were given on a special occasion which is sitting gathering dust. At The Hawksmoor Monday Club we’re giving you the chance to bring that fantastic bottle in to the restaurant to enjoy with the best steak in the country.
On Mondays please feel free to bring any bottle you like (or even as many bottles as you like) in, and we’ll only charge you a corkage of £5 per bottle.
As a guideline, if you are bringing in red burgundy, pinot noir or a modern Italian red go for our fillet, with cabernet or merlot (especially red Bordeaux), go for sirloin and with a Chateauneuf, Cote Rotie or other syrah/shiraz or a top Tuscan red we recommend our ribeye. If you have more classic wines think about eating your steak rare whereas riper, more fruit driven wines go much better with something better done (and therefore more heavily caramelised). And, if all else fails, and you’re just avoiding the recession blues, then feel free to pop down to the off license and pick something up cheap!
